I am Professor of the History of Art and Visual Culture at Boise State University. My research addresses aspects of the visual culture of science in early modern Europe. I received my BA in History from Pomona College and my PhD in Visual Studies from the University of California, Irvine. I am the author of The Insect and the Image: Visualizing Nature in Early Modern Europe, 1400-1700 (Minneapolis: University of Minnesota Press, 2011).
